Description
A full production camera, not just a webcam
The Tail 2 pairs a large 1/1.5″ 50MP CMOS sensor with a 12-lens optical system — 5× optical zoom (12× hybrid) and ƒ/1.8–ƒ/3.0 aperture — delivering true 4K@60fps and 1080p@120fps footage.
PTZR: the “R” is the difference
Beyond standard pan-tilt-zoom, Tail 2’s gimbal rotates 90° for instant, seamless vertical 4K — perfect for shorts and social clips — plus an Auto Leveling System that keeps the horizon stable automatically.
Every connection a studio needs
Outputs cover NDI|HX3, SDI, HDMI, USB 3.0, Ethernet and RS-232 — wired or wireless IP streaming, integrate with switchers, or run it as a plug-and-play USB camera.
AI framing that keeps working
AI Auto Framing zooms smoothly across a 3×–24× range to keep the subject perfectly composed, with human/object tracking built in.
Runs untethered
A 5000mAh battery delivers up to 5 hours of continuous shooting or streaming — genuinely portable for events, studios and stages.

The OBSBOT Tail2 has revolutionised our Live Streaming of our church service! 1. Easy to set up, Mounted on an auto Mic Stand, plug into PoE & turn on. It takes 1 minute! 2. Connects straight into our ProPresenter program, so no vision mixer needed anymore through the NDI Feed! 3. Using Stream Deck one button when pressed locates the camera in the right direction, focuses, Zooms and sets the temperature for worship. the next button is preset to follow the Preacher. OBSBOT has really made a for purpose live camera with tracking that actually works. Great work team, we no longer need a vision mixer or people to man a camera. 🙌
I’m coming from using DJI Osmo Pocket 2/3 for years. My main use for a camera is filming my kids sporting events, I edit the videos for the team to watch and review. After the upgrade, the team noticed a huge difference in video quality and clarity in the footage.
My only 3 “complaints” if I’m being picky, but maybe this is common gripes for veteran users or buying more premium video camera:
1) They did not include a carrying case. I ended up buying a 12×8 pelican case and throwing out the foam that came with it. Then I took the foam from the original Trail 2 box and used that foam inside the pelican case.
2) there’s no built-in microphone. I did not realize this first time using this and when I went to record, it had no audio. A quick purchase of a shotgun mic fixed this problem but I feel for the price, at least a starter microphone should have been included for beginners.
3) there’s no additional mounting for a microphone. After buying a shotgun microphone, I realized there’s no 1/4 screw accessory on the camera, so I ended up buying another mounting bracket to clamp onto the tripod. That works, but if the camera is moving around, the shotgun microphone is stationary and does not optimally pick up the sound that the camera is pointing at. I’ll have to get creative and find a way to get the Microphone mount to the swivel portion of the camera.
In the end, do I recommend this? Maybe, it depends if you are comfortable thinking outside the box or use to these type on gripes. But if you’re a total noob to the video world, the DJI OSMO Pocket 3 will be much better experience right out of the box. For myself, I love the challenge with new technology and strive to make it my own. If you are like me, then you will likely love this camera too.
