Description

A full production camera, not just a webcam

The Tail 2 pairs a large 1/1.5″ 50MP CMOS sensor with a 12-lens optical system — 5× optical zoom (12× hybrid) and ƒ/1.8–ƒ/3.0 aperture — delivering true 4K@60fps and 1080p@120fps footage.

PTZR: the “R” is the difference

Beyond standard pan-tilt-zoom, Tail 2’s gimbal rotates 90° for instant, seamless vertical 4K — perfect for shorts and social clips — plus an Auto Leveling System that keeps the horizon stable automatically.

Every connection a studio needs

Outputs cover NDI|HX3, SDI, HDMI, USB 3.0, Ethernet and RS-232 — wired or wireless IP streaming, integrate with switchers, or run it as a plug-and-play USB camera.

AI framing that keeps working

AI Auto Framing zooms smoothly across a 3×–24× range to keep the subject perfectly composed, with human/object tracking built in.

Runs untethered

A 5000mAh battery delivers up to 5 hours of continuous shooting or streaming — genuinely portable for events, studios and stages.

  1. Best Live Stream Upgrade

The OBSBOT Tail2 has revolutionised our Live Streaming of our church service! 1. Easy to set up, Mounted on an auto Mic Stand, plug into PoE & turn on. It takes 1 minute! 2. Connects straight into our ProPresenter program, so no vision mixer needed anymore through the NDI Feed! 3. Using Stream Deck one button when pressed locates the camera in the right direction, focuses, Zooms and sets the temperature for worship. the next button is preset to follow the Preacher. OBSBOT has really made a for purpose live camera with tracking that actually works. Great work team, we no longer need a vision mixer or people to man a camera. 🙌

  2. Best Upgrade, Best Decision!

I’m coming from using DJI Osmo Pocket 2/3 for years. My main use for a camera is filming my kids sporting events, I edit the videos for the team to watch and review. After the upgrade, the team noticed a huge difference in video quality and clarity in the footage.

My only 3 “complaints” if I’m being picky, but maybe this is common gripes for veteran users or buying more premium video camera:

    1) They did not include a carrying case. I ended up buying a 12×8 pelican case and throwing out the foam that came with it. Then I took the foam from the original Trail 2 box and used that foam inside the pelican case.

    2) there’s no built-in microphone. I did not realize this first time using this and when I went to record, it had no audio. A quick purchase of a shotgun mic fixed this problem but I feel for the price, at least a starter microphone should have been included for beginners.

    3) there’s no additional mounting for a microphone. After buying a shotgun microphone, I realized there’s no 1/4 screw accessory on the camera, so I ended up buying another mounting bracket to clamp onto the tripod. That works, but if the camera is moving around, the shotgun microphone is stationary and does not optimally pick up the sound that the camera is pointing at. I’ll have to get creative and find a way to get the Microphone mount to the swivel portion of the camera.

In the end, do I recommend this? Maybe, it depends if you are comfortable thinking outside the box or use to these type on gripes. But if you’re a total noob to the video world, the DJI OSMO Pocket 3 will be much better experience right out of the box. For myself, I love the challenge with new technology and strive to make it my own. If you are like me, then you will likely love this camera too.

Can the Tail 2 turn on/off by the POE connector? Is there mounting equipment to hang from the ceiling? Darreil asked on May 26, 2026

Hi Darreil,

Thank you for reaching out with your questions.

1) Can Tail 2 turn on/off via the PoE connector?
Yes. Tail 2 supports a Plug/UnPlug to Power On/Off function. When the power switch is on, plugging in the Ethernet cable powers the device on, and unplugging the cable powers it off.

2) Is there mounting equipment to hang it from the ceiling?
Yes - we supply ceiling and wall mounting brackets for PTZ cameras, and we can ship them with your camera. Tail 2 uses the standard UNC 1/4-20 interface, which our ceiling-mount bracket kits support, so it can be hung from a ceiling or fixed to a wall.

Tell us your ceiling height and whether you need a drop pole, and we will confirm the exact bracket and quote it with the camera.

If I order a Tail 2 that has NDI licence already included and activated, can I still deactivate the NDI and use the HDMI for the video output to link the camera into an Blackmagic ATEM mini Iso ? And if in case I use the NDI, do I need a special managed R-J45 switch to connect to the camera ? Do you have any recommendation for the R-J45 hub / switch ? Thanks Claude asked on April 30, 2026

Hello Claude,

Thank you for reaching out with your questions about the OBSBOT Tail 2. Here are the details you requested:

1. NDI and HDMI Usage:
Yes, the NDI mode on the Tail 2 can be enabled or disabled as needed. Additionally, the Tail 2 supports simultaneous NDI and HDMI output, meaning you can use the HDMI output to connect the camera to a Blackmagic ATEM Mini even with NDI activated.

2. NDI Connection and RJ45 Switch Recommendation:
NDI can be output via both WiFi and Ethernet connections. However, for maximum reliability and stability, we recommend using a wired Ethernet connection. When selecting an RJ45 switch for NDI, you can opt it supports the IEEE 802.3 af/at standard with a minimum power output of 30W per port for optimal performance.

If you have any further questions or require clarification, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

I saw a picture with a base on the tail 2. That base is not on the main pictures of the tail 2 itself. Is that some kind of battery pack 'add on' that you buy afterwards for £XXX's? Max asked on April 18, 2026

Hello,

That charging base accessory is exclusive to the Tail Air—it’s not compatible with or included with the Tail 2.

If you can share the picture you saw, please reach out to our support team at service@obsbot.com. They’ll be happy to help clarify any details for you.

Best regards,
